Hi<br /> <br />I have a 1975 Evinrude on a 20" Halmark tri-hull boat, the motor runs very well but it has electric shift?, is that out dated and should i look for another motor of keep running the 175

The electric and hydroelectric shifting was discontinued, but with care they continue to last.<br /><br />I wouldn't change engines just because of obsolete technology.<br /><br />Good luck. :)

Just to add to JB's comments mucka....The idea of electric shift is, IMHO, a great idea. What it does is offer the boater a positive shift. No grinding of gears. Hit the button or lever and it's in gear. A lot of boaters think that a slow shift is best but it's not. Snapping the gears in will add years of life to the gears. This is what the electric shift did for boaters. Got the gears engaged with very little wear and tear. Just my $.02 worth.

hey,<br /> do you know of anyone who has parts for the ele shift??? so if it does brake i can buy some parts to fix it?
