I have a 1974 eska 5hp model 1705f with a tecumseh 600 power head. My question is that afer a while it loses power (overheating). Should the water exiting be "spiting/misting" or "peeing" out?

Water should mist out the relief holes. Power head is air cooled;be sure fins are clean, good air flow, timing is right, Champion J13Y plug.

The powerhead is air cooled like a lawn mower, because it is a lawn mower engine. However the exhaust tube is water cooled by a pump. If the pump doesn't work, the exhaust gets blazing, stinking hot. Since the powerhead sits on top of it, it is just like it is sitting on a hot stove and it overheats also.

Fix the water pump.
