Effectiveness of the Internet!

Got a surprise and a giggle out of a family email string that was lauding the collapse of a boondoggle coalition that had been formed to plan and build a much needed replacement bridge over the mighty Columbia River, between Portland Oregon and Vancouver Washington.

They have spent about $170 million dollars, to come up with a plan that was as absurd as it was expensive. In the end, the State of Washington backed out of the whole mess and defunded their share of the CRC coalition (Columbia River Crossing). That sealed the deal. The CRC is dead and now the two states have to go back to the drawing board. Washington's main objection, besides the expense, was that Oregon wanted to include light rail from Portland up into Vancouver. Vancouverites wanted nothing to do with light rail and all the riff raff it would bring with it.

Anyway, the point of my post is that in the course of this family email discussion, my Nephew in Law posts a link for an iboat discussion that happened back in 2003. He then quoted statements that I had made in that post. They were virtually identical to what I had just stated in the email chain.

He was shocked when he found out who the poster he quoted really was. BOOMYAL! He'd had no clue.

My comments in this link are about 16 posts down from the opening.

I wonder how the Nephew in Law came upon that post?

I asked him how he dragged that up. He said 'google' is my friend. He is some kind of engineer for Intel. I had made statements, in the email post, about 'paying prospective riders to stay home'. He may have googled that to see if there was any validity in my claim.

Hey Boom, no one can say you are not consistent!

To all, just keep this thread about google/internet and not about politics ... Just a friendly warning BEFORE anything happens or is said ... A preemptive strike, if you will.

aspeck, my long time bud, how can the subject of a bridge be political? Well, OK. I guess it could be cast in that light. Anyway, good to hear from you even though I no longer have a Pennsylvania connection.

btw, it was fun to hear your declaration of my consistency! :encouragement:
