Ebbtide with an outboard?

I purchased a boat last summer that, according to the title and the sticker on the side of the boat, is a '94 Ebbtide. It also has a 94 outboard Johnson 150 V6. According to a local marine dealer that is not possible. He tells me that Ebbtide did not make outboards. He did say somebody may have cut off the inboard transom and replaced it with an outboard.

My question is; First, is the guy correct? Has Ebbtide never made an outboard? Also, wouldn't there be some kind of visible sign of the transom being replaced? If so, what should I look for?

According to the couple I purchased the boat from, who knew less about boats than I and I know nothing. They purchased the boat from a DNR auction.

Do you have a Hull Identification Number?

Welcome to iboats!

What model do you have? Ebbtide did indeed make outboard models!

I don't know the model. It is blank on the title. It is fiberglass, 19', and has a walkthrough windshield. That help any?

The Hull ID is ETC41059F494.

They made lots with outboards.
Their DynaTrac came in several different models with outboards, the first real open bow fish n ski that was geared toward fishing and it didn't ride like a bass boat.

Re: Ebbtide with an outboard?

Well looks like that guy didn't know what he was talking about....

What kind of deal ya'll think I got? I paid $1500 for this boat.

It appears to be a '94 Ebbtide Catalina Sport. I think the motor is an '82. It is an Outboard Johnson 150 V6. The Tennesse trailer seems to be in great condition and all the lights work. I put it in the water a handful of times last summer and have been out a dozen times this summer. The motor runs great and pulls me out of the water with ease (I weight 260lbs). The cylinder compressions' are 110 to 115psi. The seats are in good condition accept the ones in the bow (I hope to re-upholster them this winter). I did put a new floor in it over the winter. The steering and throttle all seem to work fine and all the gauges work accept the tnt. It has a 45 gallon built-in fuel tank (I'm guessing at the size because I have yet to run it out and then fill it completely but I have put 40 gallons in at once). It will cruise 55mph wide open but the most fuel efficient speed seems to be 35mph at 4000rpm.

BTW love the website and forums. There is a lot of information and knowledgeable people here.

I've never heard anything but good things about Ebbtides. I think you absolutely stole that one at that price.
