I was viewing an item on ebay and just below the shipping on the listing was a popup that said "want to save $$" or something similar to that. When I clicked on it there was a discount code.I continued to view items and when I went back to make the purchase next day the popup was gone and have not seen it since.Anyone have any experience with this?? Yes, the discount is normally only good for the time you are visiting that particular listing, it is an incentive the seller can add to their listings to convince you to purchase right at that time, it goes away if you navigate away from the listing and normally will not show up again. It has nothing to do with ebay, it is the seller who specifies the pop up when they list the items for sale.

I reached out to the seller and he claimed the exact opposite.Said it was offered by ebay and had nothing to do with him.

Ok, I know when I list stuff on ebay, I have the option to add a random time limited discount during the time my auction runs. But either way, whether the seller or ebay does it, I believe it would work the same way, limited time offer, while you are on the page.

I know what you mean Charlie, I have missed out on discounts in the past, because I was doing price shopping, so now I figured out, if I open one page and leave it that has the discount and then open another browser window and go to ebay and do some searching, I won't loose the discount, I always have several windows open when browsing ebay, I have learned their tricks over the years.

You might try using a different device. If they are using a cookie to track it the discount should come back up.

I try my best to not buy from ebay, don't like paypal (have an account but don't use) Find the item then find the vendors local non-ebay store and buy direct

Where I live, I would be sitting here in a tee pee if I didn't buy things on ebay and my wife's business would not survive without paypal, she is not really big enough to get a regular merchant account through our bank, last time I checked out local banks wanted over 6% to process credit cards for an internet based business and her paypal account works out to a little over 2.25% to process them and she can take Amex, our bank won't process Amex unless you pay extra over the 6%. I do try to purchase everything locally, but I will be darned if I will pay 25-35% more for something just to buy locally, I went looking for a set of new hoses for my snow plow a couple of weeks ago and the cheapest I could find locally was over $100 bucks and I ended up getting a set from a snow plow shop in Colorado for less than $30 bucks and they shipped them to me for free, had them in 2 days.
