Eaton outdrive

I bought a boat recently that is a 20' open fishing boat, it has a 289 Dearborn Interceptor in it that is attached to an eaton outdrive, I was told the motor ran and kit has new oil in it and new impellers. Should I replace this set up? Switch sterndrives? Or will it work just fine.

Ayuh,.... Welcome Aboard,.... It's old, 'n parts might be tough to find, but if it's in good shape, run it til it pukes,...

I have the water pump for it and the hard copy manual, as well as an electronic copy for these kinds of motors

Ayuh,.... It's an old drive, but a Solid runner,...

I've got a pair of that 1s larger sisters on my houseboat,....

Parts can still be bought for 'em, at Marysville Marine, in Marysville Mich...

Ayuh,.... I ain't sure 'bout yer's, Mine are it's bigger sisters, 'n they use a motor mounted raw water pump,...

I Believe yer's does too, but I ain't sure,...

What year is that rig? Never heard of one before.

1966 is what I was told the boat was but not sure of the year, I know there is a water pump on the motor but is one built into the outdrive? Just want to know if I have to replace the impeller

Ayuh,... If there's a motor driven raw water pump(rubber impeller), there ain't 1 in the drive,...
it don't need 2 of 'em,...

The circulatin' water pump(cast iron impeller) don't count,...

There is a bronze pump that mounts on the front of the motor like a straight drive inboard

Ayuh,... That sounds like a raw water pump, but I can't see it,...

The pump is in a box not on the motor in the picture

Here's the breakdowns of the drives,....
