Do I really have to buy a pump?

is there an easy way?

I assume the drive must be down...... couldnt I remove the top plug to pressurize and then fill in the upper unit fill screw?

I have heard it takes forever...but want to double check on this before I mess it up....

I made a funnel setup I always used on those drives. went in the top plug by the shift mechanism, remove the dipstick so the air has a place to go and pour the gear lube in.

Haven't posted these pictures in years.

Might be 1/2" pipe thread where it goes into the drive. Don't remember anymore, but you get the idea.

great....thanks don.... I might have found a "better" or at least different way....

removing the top right screw on the upper unit....the one with the o ring......

removing the dipstick for pressure.... and the bottles of 80-90 slide right in to the screw hole.....dont even have to funnel or even hold them!....

That is really slow going.

With the funnel, I just filled the funnel and went about my business for a few minutes doing something else, then fill the funnel again.
With that little screw, you have to dribble it in.

Even the old owners manuals put the oil in from the back, but they tipped the drive up. Too much up and down for me.
