I have a 1971 merc 1150 and it sounds kinda rough when i put it in gear. I kinda cring a little like it has to jerk into gear. Would this be because it is idled up to much? That is what i think. One more question why i am typing my boat will lose power at higher rpms and i noticed that my primer bulb had some dry rot cracks in it but not the whole way threw where anything comes out of the cracks. Could this be some of my power lose at wot let me know thanks. it is a walmart primer bulb!!!

It sounds like the idle is high. Wal-Mart hoses are junk go get OEM or Sierra.

Are you trying to "ease" into gear? If you are, don't do that. Shift firmly.

Yours is cracked replace it, if you wanna buy from Wally world fine. Laddies was suggesting that you purchase a higher quality fuel line assembly that will last longer.

If it's cracked:replace with a good quality bulb.Tempo bulbs stink. Buy Mercury or Johnson.Try to keep them covered from the sun and they will last a little longer.Jerry
