I am purchasing a bf 20 Honda. I need to lift the engine from our inflatable to the stern of our sailboat. I have a hoist, but i need to attach it to the outboard. will the easy lift tote work or does anyone have any suggestions?

Re: Easy lift motor tote

Hi,
I made my own by buying 2" black webbing from west marine with matching plastic buckles.
I crossed the webbing at the top of the engine and then put it under at the front and rear of the engine. where the webbing crosses on the top I pulled bothsides into a loop and used a plastic clamp to hold the loop in place. The plastic clamp came from a group of clamps that have two holes in them and came as extras with a autopilot I had bought. I then made an acrilic cover that protects the strap from the suns uv rays and keeps the motor looking new. I also made my own crane to lift the engine using a small trailer winch to do the job. I then purchased two more trailer winches to put on the davits and found them to be totally superior to block and tackles, as they always managed to twist up into a mess at the wrong times.
All of this was used on my landfall 43 on a daily basis for the two years we traveled from new york to the bahamas.
hope this helps you'
Bill

If you remove the engine cowel there should be a lift ring on the motor somewhere on top. If it's there, I would use it over other methods.
