Whats the best way to get a ski rope or tube close to a downed skier/tuber?

I know my boater safety course said approach the skier on the driver's side slowly always keeping the skier in eye contact. I was trying to picture doing that and how to get the rope close to the skier as I went by. I know growing up and skiing the driver always manage to get the rope to come right to me...

Thoughts?

I approach the downed skier and come around him in a clockwise direction (that keeps the skier on my starboard side and easy to see). When I've done a 180 around him, I'll turn the wheel to port and swing the stern around, which brings the middle of the line towards the skier.

I guess a better way to visualize this is that I'm kinda doing a figure 8 around the skier.

Oh just let them swim to it...they probably need the exercise anyway
