The Apollo program (and the original Star Trek TV series :lol
got me fired up about space exploration as a kid, ultimately resulting in me working in the space biz as my primary career. We were living in a DC suburb at the time and I had a sister working at Goddard Space Flight Center. She'd bring me neat stuff about the program.
My eyeballs weren't good enough to be a pilot, but I ended up working in the USAF and later for NASA at GSFC and JPL as a space guy. And I also worked in the commercial space program as well during my career.
Lotsa folks I worked with had similar experiences triggered by the Apollo program.
