I have an 88 bravo 1 non oiler drive I think it’s called . 1.50 ratio. What are my options to swap the upper or possibly buy a good used newer upper and swap internals over? I was told I have a “tall clutch” and they aren’t available . Just weighing my options so I can look around for good used parts. New parts aren’t in the budget.

So far I’ve found a good used bravo 3 upper (06 ish with 1.3 ratio I guess ? ) , would those internals work? Thanks.

Being a 88 most likely the drive does not have the lube bottle (your term non oiler).

If this is correct you have 2 issues
1 - Need to plug the lube bottle connection or adapt to be able to use one
2 - You cannot use the new uppers on your lower due to oil channel is different and will not connect
