Hi Guys,
Anybody out there got an early 80s Blue Fin Sportsman 16 or 18 they could measure their beam length? Long story short, i picked up a Sea Nymph SS175 Fish n Ski and it literally looked aluminum-wise the same width inside as my dad's 83 BlueFin Sportsman 18 he had when i was a kid. Nada Boat Guides puts my beam at 6'8" while the Sportsman 18 it says is 7'6"?? Maybe my eyes deceive me but i find that way off.

Attached are 2 photos. Around a 1983 Blue Fin Sportsman 18, and my boat, a 1986 Sea Nymph Fish n Ski 175. By the way my Sea Nymph is gutted in my garage, working on a total rebuild over winter ;)

Thanks!

Just use your tape measure and check it...widest point across the width is how they are measured now. Long ways back in the old days they used gunwale lengths around the bow, but those days are long..long gone..

No I mean I can measure my boat, I’m just curious if the blue fins were that wide

So your relying on your memory from when you were a kid to compare a boat that may be 10" wider than your new buy . His boat is / was longer than yours , so usually the beam gets bigger as well with the added length . You probably can find a Mfg like Lund that will have a few boats in the 16 - 18 ' range and all have a different beam measurement
