Hello everyone looking for some info. on testing a stator on a early 70’s Mercury 650 3 cylinder. I’m not getting any spam on this engine and am going to start testing each of the electrical components to see if I can pinpoint the issue. Does anybody know the proper way to test this stator with a multi. And what type of readings I should be getting from a good stator? Any info would be helpful. Thanks.

It if has a distributer stator does not have anything to do with making spark...

Here's a way of checking the dist. without the Mercury tester

It is a 3 cylinder. Thanks again. I’ll let you know what I come up with after some testing.

I deduced that the switch box was the culprit. I replaced with a new unit from CDI Electronics and the motor is now firing on all 3 cylinders.
