I recently purchased this boat on ebay and believe that it is a 1952 Starcraft. I cannot find adequate information online for these older steel models that I believe to be left over from when Star Tank and Boat Co took over Dow Boats. I think that mine used to have a wooden bow cover. Please look at the listing and see if you can ID this craft as I have a meeting this Thursday with ODNR (Water Craft Office) get her fitted with a Hull ID Number and would like to guestimate her year as accurately as I can. For now, I am thinking she is 1952, but any insight on the model would be very VERY much appreciated. This is my 3rd Starcraft (1961 Viking and 1967 Holiday). When I saw that it was was stainless and not aluminum predating my larger tins I fell in love!

Please don't judge what I paid for her, she will get the work that she deserves. :)

THANKS,
Dane

I see you have some guys stopping by to check the ole gal out but nobody so far seems to have come across this one or they'd pop off some info I'd think. I know you're int he ballpark there in the early 50's. That was an Ebay "Steal on some old Steel". Definetly not a 1980's model Jon boat.

I've seen 1 other SS Starcraft for sale, in moderately better condition, on Craigs or Ebay, 2-3yrs ago.

IIRC, it was listed as pre-1955 too, and seller was asking significantly more then you paid.

Great grab, look forward to seeing you bring it back to its former glory.

I will add pics tonight of the restore in progress. She already has the floor painted inside with black rustoleum, the wood has been coated with Olympic Elite Stain and the transom boards are removed so that I can cut and fit a fresh board in it's place. Thanks for the input guys. I am going to list her as a 1951, I think as I think it's betwen 1950 and 1952 (split the difference). I am picking up a pressure tank tonight to see if I can get that Johnson 5 1/2 horse operating that came with it, I bought her to sell after I get her sea worthy, but as always, I am already attached. :)

I have a boat very similar to this. I believe it is pre 1950. Starcraft Sea Scamp. Stainless Steel. I will get pics in a little bit.

I have one too. It was my wife's grandfathers and may have been made in the late 40's
