Today I used my fish finder, eagle fish id 128 and it shut off, . from then on whenever I tried to power up, every so often it would beep with a vertical line down the screen then nothing. Then if I tried to restart it soon after it wouldnt do anything. Later it would do that one beep and a line thing again and not work.

Has anyone heard of this. Is it something I should be able to fix?

Thank you.

Check your battery supply voltage. Many units have an auto-shut-off feature when voltage gets too low. You may have just a bad connection somewhere too, wire, pin, battery, etc. If the unit is bad, its probably not worth fixing, if you could even find someone to work on it.

I hate to admit this, but how exactly do you check the voltage at the connections. I have some kind of multimeter but dont know how to use it. thanks.

Re: Eagle Fish ID 128 problem

I don't think your Fish ID has a voltage monitor function, but check any maintenance screens you may have. It will be easier than me trying to explain how to hook-up a multi-meter. ;)

As far as your multi-meter, you will have to set it to read DC voltage on the next range higher than 12v. You will have to remove the power plug connector on the back of the unit. I believe your Eagle has a seperate connector for power and another for transducer. I believe on the back of the connector it is female pins, and there should only be 2. If you can tell which pin the red wire goes to, it is the positive and you multi-meter red probe goes to it. Black to the other pin. Now, if you can't tell, most meters are reverse voltage protected. If not, you may damage yours. You cound check Eagles website to see if they have any documentation on that unit, and specificly which pin is positive. Otherwise, call or email Eagle support.

PS: Check your battery voltage at the posts first. It will be easier. If good, then check at the connector.

PSS: The are allot of "believes" in there because it has been a while since Ive seen the back of a Fish ID.
