Okay guys,

Do I had thrown a rod on this engine and had the powerhead replaced. before the rod was thrown the engine ran fine. I was able to start it up, Idle and so on. now since I have gotten it back any time I try to start it up I can't seem to get it running for the life of me unless the warm up lever is all the way up. I did a complete carb rebuild and had them cleaned out but I am still having this same problem. any time I put the lever down even a little bit the engine shuts off. I took the boat to another mechanic in town thinking maybe a sync and link could solve the problem, But of course he wanted to check the compression first. Compression came out even and he looked disappointed and stated a lot of little stuff could be wrong including the ignition key hole which has never caused any issues. He wants to replace that, the hoses and everything for around 600 bucks. I still feel like all it needs is a sync and link, But unfortunately can't find anyone who works on evinrudes in the Orlando area. anyone have any thoughts?

compression is even I think 130 over 130 it is a used powerhead not sure on the model I have pictures of the stings but I think I had found the problem. turns out while working on it today a terminal broke off one of the spark plugs. thinking spark plugs and the wires need to be replaced.

It appears that the out covering of the throttle cam pick up roller is missing. This will play hell getting it to idle correctly. That roller has two parts. A black plastic inner hub and a translucent rubber outer layer. Hard to tell with my eyes.

Hey Jake Daawg thanks for the help with that. I wasn't sure what to call that. it is missing and I am definitely looking to fix that as well soon. that piece should be relatively cheap. right now I am just wondering if I really do just need a sync and link. Thanks Juno that's what I was thinking as well

Well you won't know unless you have the correct parts on it.

Hey guys,

I have noticed that the bolt that goes above the lever for the choke solenoid is missing. could that be a vacuum leak?
