the engine fires right-up but i have a hell of a time getting it to run properly..im assuming the water pump is bad as i will start to get it running properly for a second then it will sputter and barley move the boat when wide throttle ..sick of getting stuck out on the lake lol..is this worth trying to fix again or would it be better to get a newer engine since it is a little older model ? id hate to have to get a loan for a diffrent motor but i take my kids out so safty first..
someone did plug the waterpump so it does need to be pre-mixed now but i believe it still has the original pump in it..what would be the best/cheapest replacement or should i try to rebuild it if its a fairly basic project ?
also where is the idle screw id like to turn it up a bit obv im not too familiar with this engine as u can see so any info greatly apriecaited .. also to clean the carb is there an easy how -to somewhere online to follow ?

It is a fuel pump. The water pump is in the lower unit down by the prop.
You will have to troubleshoot the problem to narrow down the problem rather than guess at it.
First check the compression using a compression gauge. It should be at least 100 psi in each cylinder, but most importantly even across the two.
Then check the spark using a spark tester. It should jump a 7/16" gap easily.
After that then tackle the fuel system. If the engine pick up and runs when the primer bulb is pumped, then it is probably the fuel pump. If it doesn't then it's not that. If it runs better when fuel is squirted into the carb throat (squirt bottle) then the carb is clogged up.
