There are four connections on each gauge. If you have any other gauges on this boat, you can connect the "I" (ignitiion/+12 volts) for each gauge to the same "I" terminal on any other gauge. If you have no other gauges, you get |+12 volts when the key is on at the "A" terminal on the ignition switch. Ground is wherever you find it but again if you have any other gauges, connect to the ground terminal on any other gauge. Gauges have internal lights. connect the "L" (light" terminal to the "L" terminal on any other gauge. No other gauges?? -- then connect to the NAV position of the NAV/ANC switch. The tach sense "S" terminal is the gray wire in the engine harness. Should be available at the control box or extension of the engine harness under the console. To use a temperature gauge the engine needs to have a temperature "sender" not the standard temperature "switch". That would normally be the tan wire in the engine harness.

Thanks for the information on the tachometer I now have it working thanks to you. Where would the temp sending unit be located? Did this motor even have one? There is a tan wire coming up to the remote control I opened the remote up and it appears to be going to a buzzer along with 2 purple wires that are connected to the switch........ any ideas? The remote is an OMC brand btw.

Best to install the new temp sender so that it touches the head. You'll have to purchase one that will be compatible with your temp gauge. You'll need to fabricate a "Z" bracket it mount the sender to the head. The two temp switches (one on each head) Silvertip mentioned connect to the horn in the control box.
