:) I have a e-z loader model 2-tab23-276200H1X with disc brakes bought new in 2003!!!

Problem is that the brakes seize when stored for the winter and summer!! Rinse the brakes very well with fresh water the two times a year that I haul the boat!! When I go to use the trailer I have to 1st rock the trailer back & forth, as I go down the road brakes lock again, I pull over put in reverse for a few feet and go forward down the road again until they lock up again After 2-3 times of this they are free

Is there an ajustment nut that would allow the pads to be spaced futher away from the disk????? ;)

try this. before disconnecting trailer next time. if you can back the trailer past where you want to park it. then pull forward gentle to release the brakes. if sounds like it is being stored in the activated position and not wanting to retract because of corrosion. i'm assuming you have hydrolic brakes, and leaving the tongue actuator, in the activated position, rather than pull forward to release it.

Take it back to where you bought it for a tune up. The breaks shouldn't be doing this. A mild stickiness should be all you have, not lock ups. Can you feel the surge mechanism moving back and forth??

:) Yes, the surge mechanism is working!!! Can't take it back, bought in Florida ,brand new!!!

yup lock ups, tires smoke pull over side of road go backwards and forward go down the road and lock up again!!! This happens 3-4 times in a 2 mile period and then seems to be normal and I can drive all day with it, no problem, trailer sits in yard all summer and then the same thing in the fall of the year when it is time to haul the boat out of water!!!

Thank You!!!! ;)

2003 to 2006 is plenty of time for the calipers to need to be taken apart and cleaned or replaced if to far gone

How level is your trailer ? if its nose down the brake couppler wont release smoothly

Going in reverse to free up disk brakes makes no sense at all ?

tommays

Check the adjustment of the pressure required to activate the brake. Also check the breakaway locker mechanism.

One or the other is waaay out of whack.

Re: E Z LOADER

I have an EZ Loader as well with drum surge brakes. Had new brakes installed last year. Shortly thereafter, the brakes would lock up. Had to back off the adjusters, just to get them free. After much work by the marina mechanics that did the brake job, they concluded it was the master cylinder. Replaced it and everything works fine.
