OK, I'm in the market to get another boat. I'm looking for a 16-17 footer with about 90hp.

Any one with a e-tec or 4 stroke please post some fuel economy figures for what you actually get; as opposed to what the manufacturers claim.

PS. Thanks to all those that help me get my old 55hp running again.

Re: e-tec vs 4stroke fuel economy

i've only seen advertised numbers from brp but why not ask 4-stroke companies what their numbers are
if it were me i would take e-tec or any 2-stroke over 4-stroke any day
e- tec does have the advantage of avaiable 7 year warranty and no maintence for 3 years or 300 hours which ever comes first

Re: e-tec vs 4stroke fuel economy

powerboats magazine did a test on a 17 foot boat with a 75hp e-tec, and it topped out at 30 mph at WOT and had 5 MPG .

this is cool and all, but my 1990 merc 90hp on the back of my 16.5 center console gets 5 miles per gallon, and its a 2 stroke.

long live the 2 stroke.
