The impeller for my Etec 50 has a little black plastic key that fits against a flat spot on the drive shaft. The imeller somehow slides over it. Does anyone out there know how to get the danged impeller over the key? For the life of me, I can't get it to slide down over it. I know it does because the one I took off had the same arrangement. I even tried to put the old one back on to make sure the new one wasn't the problem, but now that I have the old one off, I can't even get it back on. Anyone? Thanks in advance.

sometime's they are pretty tight... and you have to tap them on with hammer.... is there any rust/corrosion/salt build up on the driveshaft?

A bit of grease or RP7, by the way Just making sure "the impellar can only go on one way" there is a slot on the inside of the impeller that slides over the key.

Thanks guys. There's no rust or corrosion on the shaft at all. This "key" is not your typical square stock key. There's a flat spot on the shaft and the "key" is a flat-on-one-side, curved-on-the-other little piece of plastic that fits into the impeller bushing and locks it into the drive shaft. If you haven't seen one, it's hard to describe.
