Does any one have a part # and manufacturer for an "honest-to-goodness" duo-prop prop nut socket. I am looking for a 1/2" drive socket for the inner and outer nuts. Looking for one made from tool steel similiar looking to an impact socket. Not interested in the cheap stamped steel version that I got from the V-P store. I am sure someone makes one, I just can't seem to find one with the search functions. Price is not a concern for the most part.

Use the tool. By using a 1/2 drive socket you will over tighten the nut. Guaranteed. If something happens and you need to take it off in the water your not going to get the nuts off. Front prop is 45 ft lbs and the rear is 50 ft lbs

I made mine from 2" exhaust filler pipe...made 3 notches for the tangs on the nut; use a pipe wrench or channel locks to tighten, seems to work very well?

Bajaunderground hit the nail on the head. I also made one out of piece of 2" pipe. Took about 15 minutes to make. Then I use a pipe wrench. Good luck Dave-R

I did the same except I welded an old socket at the top of it so I can use a torque wrench to put it on.

Jake,

Check Volvo Penta #3855876 front nut socket

For the rear nut, just use a regular 1/2 drive socket

Thats the one. Thank you.

To the others....I just needed something more durable. One that can take a breaker bar for removal. I frequently get prop nuts that are over tightened into the shop.
