[pine island fred]

Friends chaparral is on my lift with a destroyed outdrive ( inside and out). he is looking for a rebuilt unit here in fl. can only find mercruise at iboats,he needs a volvo-penta unit. it is a duo prop,believe there is only one model. anyone know of any place within driving distance of cape coral, fort myers ? thanks fred

There are lots of models, gear ratios, attaching methods, etc. How about at least a year, engine type, maybe a picture?

Got more information. volve-penta. called a DP. 290DP ratio of 1.95 to 1. engine is a 501A a 305 chevy. installed in a 91 chaparral 2370. attaching method looks pretty much like any other,did not realize there were different mounting methods. starting to get a real i/o education with this boat. regards fred

The AQ501A came with a DP-A, A1, or A2. All are similar and will fit. New drives from Volvo that fit are known as DP-E. The changes are all internal, and even if an older A model was completely rebuilt, with new insides they would be like the DP-E.<br />Here is what a DP-A through DP-E looks like.<br />
