Just picked up a new to me Rinker with the 5.0L Thunderbolt. It didn't come with an operators manual and I haven't found one yet. Planning to take it out for a test run, but wondering how these carb engines work. Are they self choking? Pump the throttle a few times and then start or just turn the key? Sorry for the basic question, but a search didn't find any results.

Anyone have a link to an operators manual? I have found a link to a service manual, but unless you are planning a tear down, it doesn't give the basics.

If its like mine, it has TKS (turn key start) no need to pump or choke.
Good luck.........

Don't know anything about TKS, but older carb engines were one full pump to set the choke, then turn the key with a little throttle as needed.

If you can post your engines serial # Don will let you know if you have TKS, If you do, you dont want to pump it.

One pump only and start. My father has the same motor. One only!! Then turn that key.

Also when I say one pump, I mean when it's cold. After the boat has been running, no longer to pump it. Just your first start of the day. Dad is hanging out right now, and he has owned his boat since it was new with your same motor, and that is the way he has always started his cold motor.
