Hello:

OK I am a first time boat buyer. I purchased a used 1989 Hydra-sports 2200 WA.  This model has an extension on the back that holds the motor. I am not sure what you call it, but you can walk on it.

Should this transome thing holding the motor fill with water. Should the hole at the bottom contain some sort of plug. Ok stop laughing! I really am not sure. It would just seem it would get out of the water much faster if this thing was not full of water.

Thanks
Bob

Re: Dumb Boat Question

Bob,

It's called a bracket. They are used for a couple of reasons.

1. It allows for a full transom-more seaworthy.

2. The prop is in cleaner water, for a better bite.

The hole is there for it to drain. Don't plug it.

Re: Dumb Boat Question

Bob:
I learned a long time ago that the only dumb quetion is the one you don't ask.
When I first checked the motor bracket on my pontoon boat, I thought the same thing. Trust what djohns19 tells you. It will drain when underway.

Charles

Re: Dumb Boat Question

Thanks of the help!

The bracket(deck) is almost like a 3' x 4' by 2' high. It just holds so much water I was just a little concerned.

Thanks everyone!
