Duelies on a small trailer?

I worry about the trailer and getting a flat on long trips. Was wondering if anyone has seen a duel wheel setup on a small trailer. I have 12" rims with 4.80 x12 B tires. Would feel safer if the tires were doubled up on each side. The GVW rating is 1200 lbs. Havn't seen any dual setups on the trailer supply sites. Any ideas?

Your tires have a max weight rating of approx 780# each.
You can replace your tires and wheels with 5.30 x 12 C rated tires, inflated to 80psi, rated at 1045# each.

I don't think you need them though.

even if u get a flat on a duel it needs to be removed because the tire will get hot and shread or even worse catch fire. i just think that u might wanna bring along a spare and make sure your lugs can come off with a lug wrench. i always break mine lose and tighten them with a lug wrench before long trips so i know if i get a flat i can get them off on the road. would not hurt to spray them with a little pen. oil eather

Unless you could get a rim for the inner wheel to space it inward you would put a lot of strain on the bearings. If you could find such a rim frame clearance probably would be a problem. Interesting thought though.

DouGV>

It sounds like a solution for a problem that doesn't exist.

I'd just keep good fresh tires on it, and a spare.
That does fine in millions and millions of cases.

The only flats I've ever had on trailers was because the tire was old, and just rotted/fell apart. I've never had one go flat from a puncture.
