hi ,just new to this site and new to boating , long story made short . 1st boat ever ,24 foot panga ,typical fishing boat here in panama (think alum car topper but 24 ft and made of fibreglass ) new 40 hp suzuki 2 stroke ,going out on the ocean i also wanted a kicker ,found 2 new old stock 5 hp coccilo ducati , white cowl ,blue frame and leg and drab olive green engine .the shop owner says they are 3 years old ? the style makes them look 30 years old , any and all information would be a great help . a friend and myself are thinking of buying them as a spare , i have found some web sites that say ducati made boat motors but that is all that is ever said , any idea when they stopped making them ? anyone ever owned one of these ? they are very simple looking and no electronics ,kind of like the old lawn mower . thanks in advance for any and all opions ,doug

Don't know about that ,but I have a 7 hp ducati air cooled diesel.They make all kind'a motors, not just superbikes. Runs 7 hours on a gallon of fuel and NOISY!!!Apparently they have diesel and kerosene outboards.

hi Bob yes i took some the other day ,went to download them today but the battery in my camera needed to be recharged , i will send them in the morning . you said rare in your post ,i hope you did not mean it ,unless you can also tell me that they are a good little engine . we just do not want to go out on the ocean without a little backup . if you have any info you would like to share about them ,that would be nice . i looked at a little 4 hp yamaha but they want $1150.00 for them here so with just buyng the new boat and 40 suzuki , i am looking at saving a buck with these .and i guess they only have to run 1 time to save your life hahaha
