Hi, i'm new to this forum, and have a question. I bought 3 interstate batteries that came with a dual 8 amp guest charger. My question is, there are two + and two - wires that go to the 4 terminals, what are the other 3 wires for? Is it for bridging two batteries together sort of like an on-board charger? Any insight would be greatly appriciated!!

Re: dual battery charger wires?

Lets break this down:

1) You have three (3) batteries.

2) You have a charger that has two (2) 8 amp outputs (which may actually be two four-amp outputs for a total output of 8 amps. These two situtations are totally different and it is the manufacturers way of tricking you.

3) Since you have three batteries but only two sets of outputs, you can only charge two of the three batteries. Yes -- one pair of +/- wires go to each battery.

4) You do realize that an on-board charger requires 115 volt AC household power for operation right?? Those three wires, if they are black (or red), white and green are the AC power wires and an AC plug must be added.

5) The only way you can charge all three batteries is to parallel two of them so one set of outputs is charging two batteries.
