Has anyone come accross a battery case designed to hold two standard group 24 battaries? I've searched the net and all I've seen is boxes for two battaries mainly for golf cart use, but can't seem two find any for a marine application. My current set up utilizes a single battery in a tray within the engine compartment and I don't think the current setup meets USCG rules because the terminals are exposed. I'm planning on installing a second battery and would prefer to find an enclusure that would hold both batteries. I've seen some trays designed to hold two batteries, but that wouldn't necessarily solve my issue with the exposed terminals. What do most people do with dual battery installastions? Use two separate boxes? I'm kind of tight on room and don't think two boxes will fit in my situation.

Also, has anyone here had any luck or experience with the dual battery isolaters designed to bolt directly onto the alternator terminals? Are they any good?
Thanks

Re: dual battary box for installing two group 24 batteries

I searched all over for a 2 battery box for my trolling motor batteries.
I am using 2 group 27 batteries.
I wanted something neat and that offered protection, was also tight on space.

The best I could do was to pick up a decent plastic toolbox.
I found several that fit the bill at the big box tool stores.

I cut a hole for the cables, drilled a few small holes for ventilation, even put some silicon pads in the bottom to cushion the batteries.

The last modification was to push the cover hinge pins out so I could lift the cover off. Bought a standard battery strap to secure the box and cover to the boat.

Total cost was under $20.
