DTS Controls or no DTS Controls

HI all,

I am getting ready to purchase a new boat and motor and the motor I was looking at comes with an option to add DTS Controls for an extra $1500. I have done some research and know that it's Digital Throttle response system and that it's very jumpy. My current boat is a 50HP and is cable driven. This upgrade would be to a 200HP..

So I have two questions...

1. Is it worth the upgrade
2. How reliable is it (down the road 10 years from today)

Thanks
Zipp

A friend has DTS on his 275 Verado.
I really like it. Especially the trolling function.

Most cars have had “fly by wire” throttles for years. Most don’t know it

It has been used by Mercury for over 15 years now - it is proven. Get it, it is not jumpy, it is silky smooth. I had it several boats ago for the first time and will never go back to mechanical controls. Third boat now with it and it is perfect.

Thank you... I thought that came out recently in the past few years. Good to know it's been out for a while.. And the upgrade is only $900 extra so I am leaning towards it

No bumping throttle to manage trolling RPM.
Set desired RPM and go.
Change set point via push buttons
I do a lot of trolling for Muskies and Walleye... Looks like I might benefit from it...

Thank you
