Dt40 red oil light came on today oil in res

My engine while running about 1/2 throttle tonight cut out like out of oil but there was plenty of oil in the resi. How do you check if the oil pump is pumping oil?
The engine cut from 1/2 throttle plane to a little over an idle. I tried disconnecting the sensor wires which allowed it to run normal in thw past but no avail.

Did alarm go off?
Does your alarm work?
What sensor wires did you disconnect?

need to make sure what is causing problem before you can fix it

No alarm, I'm not sure if it works never heard it before. The red oil light came on, that usually never turns on unless the oil tank is empty. The sensor wire I disconnected are the ones that go into the oil tank. The red light doesn't come on and the engine doesn't cut rpm till over 1/2throttle then it cuts back to almost an idle

Some if not all Suzuki motors have a oil flow sensor also.
You need to pick up a service manual for your motor and start testing things

If you lost oil flow you may have already hurt motor from lack of oil

I still run mix a little less than 50:1 plus the oil injection b/c i worry about it lol

Really? I have a DT40 and mine wouldn't start because I did the same. Mixed oil in the petrol tank at 50:1 as well as the injection. Killed the engine. Had to flush out the filter, pump and clean the carb before it would start again. How does your still run with you doing this. Doesn't it produce a lot of exhaust?

Really? I have a DT40 and mine wouldn't start because I did the same. Mixed oil in the petrol tank at 50:1 as well as the injection. Killed the engine. Had to flush out the filter, pump and clean the carb before it would start again. How does your still run with you doing this. Doesn't it produce a lot of exhaust?

yes it makes extra smoke just have to keep up on changing plugs i have run it like this for a long time and no issue. Today im going to check the oil screen hope thats it just a little plugged up

Ok so I cleaned out the filter and it had some gummy oil in it got it all cleaned out and fresh oil flowing through it but the red light is still on, anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

Probably no help, but did you fill the oil tank all the way back up. If not do that and see if releases the red light. Also the alrm buzzer is supposed to sound if the red light comes on and engine is above 3000 rpms.

I would try the reset button on the side of the motor. If that wont work
Probably disconnect and reconnect battery. It worked in my dt65!

I cannot thank you enough u got me poking around where i never would have and i found a frayed wire got it all patched up and bam runs like new again!
Today has beem the day of outboard fixing for me since i fixed my kicker aswell.

My engine doesnt have a buzzer it has an auto cut back that cuts igniton so it cannot exceed 1250 rpm even when you try full throttle.
