Hi All,

Following on from my previous post about this engine that runs backwards, does anyone know if the CDi for the 25 & 30 is the same ? The guy that supplied the replacement CDi seems to thinks so.

I have pulled the flywheel & checked the ignition pick up coil & this is locked in place & the flywheel was on its woodruff key correctly. I released the timing plate travel stops & retarded the ignition as far as possible & it still starts in reverse, but a lot easier ! I suspect that this is because the spark is going off closer to TDC when there is more compression.

We are waiting for another replacement CDi, but I thought I'd ask the masters if the CDi's are HP/Model specific ? They don't appear to have a part number, so it's hard to tell because they all look the same.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks

Chris W.

Did you try switching the spark plug leads, Chris?

Hi JB,

Yeah I tried that & there was no effect, it didnt even try to start, no smoke & no other sign of ignition. Nothing had been changed since the engine last run, except the CDi. This was changed as the previous owner had reverse polarity connected the battery & there was no spark from the CDi after that.

I checked out another post & had a look at a site that has Suzuki fiche online. It appears there are 2 different CDi's for these engines based on model, but as the CDi's have no part numbers on them, its hard to tell the difference !

Chris W.
