I have the old lock up on the left side brake drum. Mine are surge brakes and I can hear them sticking. My problem is that I have never done drums before. I was told that they are pretty easy. Can I buy the parts for a 2003 Magic tilt in any store (boat store). Do they give any direction? Thanks for any help.

The easiest and best way to do this is to purchase a pair of assembled backing plates from your favorite vendor.

Cost is about $130.00 and you have essentially new brakes.

Save yourself from years of grief and replace the drum brakes with disc brakes especially if you have to dunk your trailer in salt water.
