After loading on the trailer , I got in the truck and started to pull up and felt something was not right. Well im glad that I stopped and checked. I was by myself and it was starting to rain. Guess I was distracted. I've never done that before. All seems to be ok other than the fin on the outdrive being ground a little. It seems like that could Put a lot of stress on the transom. It's a 1750 Capri 3.0ls. I hate making stupid mistakes like that!

We did ours a couple weeks ago - first time for that. Wife got distracted and forgot to put it up. Bunch of noise but almost no damage.

I do it the 1st trip out every few years. Don't worry about it. Just make sure the propeller isn't bent or chipped in a way that will hurt your outdrive with further use.

Much better on the looks of the drive to forget going up the ramp, a little filing and some paint fixes it right up.

Just wait until the drive's too low when heading down the ramp, depending on the surface of the ramp, good chance it might chip a little off the point......don't ask how I know.:facepalm::facepalm::redface:

I have done this numerous times! No damage on most trailers not enough drags to put stress on the transom. At least on my trailer on lvl ground with the outdrive all the way down it doesn't touch the ground I just forget and drag on the slope of the ramp.

Ouch!!! And welcome to the club. We did that during our first year...now the whole family asks if the drive is up before we pull out of the water. Finally they learned from my mistake instead of repeating the same thing.

A label stuck next to the winch handle that says, "Trim UP?" helps me remember! :D

My first I/O. No trim gauge and can't see outdrive, so I'm just going to be more careful ! Great little boat, and the perfect size to pull behind my old tundra . We are teaching my 10 YO daughter to wakeboard with it ( while I teach myself ) . I have no prob getting up and skiing, but I'm old school slalom skier ( 49 YO). Wake boarding is like being on marbles. My daughter is up as soon as I put it in gear lol. this is a great forum btw.

No trim gauge and can't see outdrive,

There's a couple different styles of controls and I have the same on both my boats which uses and integrated trim/trailer button.

When the drive is all the way down and you push the button up, the drive goes up for a few seconds then stops.
This is where the maximum limit is reached for trimming the drive up while underway to help prevent damaging the drive.
Then I have to hold the button further (trailer position) to go up from there.

You do not need a gauge if this is operating correctly to know when you reach the trailer position then go up for a few seconds from there.

I drug the skeg on my new outboard the first time I retrieved it. My first boat sat high enough on the trailer not to drag so I didn't think about. A note on the dash is a constant reminder now.

Nice. I have a playing card stuck in my dash that reads the same. I have drug the skeg up the ramp a few times myself.

We've all done that at one time or another lol. Just wait till you forget to ensure your winch is locked when starting to pull your boat out of the water:eek::facepalm:
