Howdy, Dragon. I don't think you need to drop the lower end to fix your skeg. Skeggard is a bolt-on, Stainless Steel sleeve that restores and protects what is left of your skeg. You need at least 1.5 to 2" of the original skeg.<br /><br />As to dropping your L.E., I am not expert, but I think all you need to disconnect is the bolts. There is a locating pin that sometimes requires a little persuasion to release. The spline on the driveshaft and the shift rod may also want to stick. If you don't need to, don't.<br /><br />Good luck. <br />JB
