Hi everyone, I've been a lurker for quite awhile but waited til I got my new (to me) boat to register. I am just trying to get a baseline on what exactly the drivetrain is. The boat is a 2002 FourWinns Horizon that was repowered in 2003-04 (no winterization). I was told the new engine is a 5.7 VP. It is mated to a SX outdrive. The serial # on the starboard front pad reads V10306CK. I could not see anything back near the oil filter where Chev usu stamps another code. Also, for you knowledgeable buys, the carb on it is a mercruiser quadrajet #17080565, also 1347-8296. Near as I can tell this is circa 1982 but i cant tell what the CFM figures are. Seems to run okay but just looking for an opinion if it's worth staying with it. The boat seems to run great but as I have nothing to compare it to, that's not based on much. this site is great. Thanks for all that you guys do.

Re: Driveline questions

Those numbers doen't tell me anything, and if it actually is a Volvo Penta (aka VP) then they aren't the right numbers.
Have a look at this.
Volvo Engine ID

Sounds like you have a mix of Volvo and Mercruiser. Got any pictures you could post?

Re: Driveline questions

DON S, I'm working the next few days but will get the pics asap. Yeah, it's definitely a mix. The kid worked at a Marina and I'm sure used what was available/free to get it up and running. I think the engine is a aftermarket replacement. Any clues on where to look? Thanks again for the help

Re: Driveline questions

Sure seems weird that they wouldn't keep the original carb that came with the boat in 2002.
