drive shaft O ring Johnson fd-11 18hp

hello, the O ring on top of the drive shaft broke apart during my many attemps to bring gear case back up to power head after replacing the impeller which was in pieces. can i get a new one here on i-boats parts or where else might i find it ? and is it normal for the drive shaft to just pull out of the prop shaft ? thanks I'm still learning and everything is a first to me but once i get the lower unit back up and torque down on the flywheel nut this old Johnson should fire up after 27 years in the garage

Yes just lift the drive shaft right up and out. The o ring is at the top right?! This one iboat can get for you its not listed with the driveshaft rather with the engine spec sheet someplace. If you need it now, just go to autozone and get one from their assortment box. Likely a dollar! Be sure to clean the cuts on the top of the drive shaft carefully, and coat with moly, or marine grease. Put in gear, and twist the prop as you press the lower end upward to get the shaft just right so it will go up into the crankshaft.
