Thanks don, one last question I have seen bellows kits that give you all the bellows, clamps even a gimble bearing for far less than a merc dealer. Are they as good as OEM

Re: Drive Shaft Bellows Replacement

pg, when i did mine, i wanted piece of mind that the parts were correct and the best i could get, so i paid the extra and used merc parts. may of not been necessary, but i felt better about it. and you will need a bearing puller, bearing installer, alignment tool, large allen wrench for the side bolts, maybe a socket for the shift cable fitting, and a good deal of patience. the manual is only a guide and doesn't fully explain all that goes on. using my manual and help from this forum, i did mine over the winter. one word of advice; be sure the outdrive is propped up good after you remove it. you will never forget the sound it makes when it hits a concrete floor!!
