I opened drain plug on my VST , year 2000/2001, F115TLRY. Nothing came out. I looked for a pressure relief on top of VST as other blogs have talked about, could not see it. Is there one or can I relieve VST some other way, ie disconnecting fuel line leading from mechanical pump.

My engine is running fine but want to be able to drain VST when I put boat into storage. Concerned re ethenol fuel which now is only fuel available in my area and want to take every precaution to protect my engine

thank

the relief valve is an inline fitting on a hose coming out the top of the tank...go to yamaha-motor.com to pull up parts diagrams...click on parts and service in marine then parts diagrams

Re: Draining Yamaha VST

easist way to vent it for draining is to remove the fuel out hose from the fuel pump.
sometimes sediments have plugged the drain orifice and the screw must be removed and the drain hole manually cleared.
if you look very carefully at the top edge of the VST tank you will see a small rubber plug with a tab, remove that plug and you will see a shrader valve, that is the relief but its rather difficult to access.
much easier to remove the fuel line at the mechanical fuel pump outlet.
drain needs to be open at least 30 min to insure draining.
I prefer running a fogging oil mix and leaving the VST full but the debate is still out.
I am with you on the Ethanol. this spring may prove to be very interesting.

Rodbolt and ZZZZZ
I could not find either an inline relief valve nor a shraeder type relief on top of the VST. Guess my only option is to disconnect fuel line coming from lift /mechanical pump.

Re: Draining Yamaha VST

merc recommends draining vst if standing more than 6 weeks!

I have been telling customers o do this if they do not run a stabilizer
