My boat has a built-in 25 gallon tank, and the fuel line is plumbed directly into the 2000 Mercury 125 ELPTO, with no quick disconnect. It would be nice to have some practical and safe method of removing the fuel from the tank at the end of the season.
The Mercury parts list shows that a permanent engine-mounted quick disconnect receptacle fitting, and its mating plug that attaches to the end of a fuel line for use with portable tanks, are both available at fairly reasonable cost.
So, my thought is to install these fittings into the existing fuel system, and fabricate an additional separate fuel line with a small pump and a receptacle fitting that the fuel line from the permanent tank could plug into, thus enabling me to drain the fuel tank.
Anybody have any better idea?
