hi gents !

i tried to winterize the penta 3.0gs and downloaded the manual from the penta side which claimes to remove the lower tubes from the water pump as well open the drain plugs on the port ans stbd side of the engine.

the tubes were not the problem, but somehow the only drain plug i saw was on the exhaust manifold- i cannot find any plugs on the engine block !

can you assist me what i have to search for ?

thanks much in advance !

Ayuh,... The Block drain is pretty much directly below the manifold drain, at the lower edge of the block...

Make sure ya poke a screw or something into the hole, to clear the crud outa the way, so's it'll drain...

thanks much- i will look into it ! the block drain plug is a screw , right?

i just also drained our second boat with a mercruiser 5.0 mpi and there we have blue plastic hand tight wing screws as plugs- here i search for a "real" screw?

best regards !

Donno,... It could be a 1/4" pipe plug, or an actual valved drain...

It could be a brass plug with a square head, but it would be brass or plastic.

don, superb answer ! i will look in the vicinity of the manifold drain which i located the next days. i have to complete this work since temperatures in europe are close to freezing at night now and soon they will fall below freezing i think.
