I just completed a fairly extensive re-firm on my 98 25C3 including new paint, HP upgrade, tach install etc and am down to one final issue....the drag link. The actual link bar that was on my boat was pretty corroded and although I was able to strip, sand, and re-paint, the mounting bolts are in fairly poor condition. Is it possible to just purchase the new bolts? I have the part number (346-84905*1) for a complete assembly but just want the new SST bolts and hardware.

The bolts that attach the "hook plate" to the "handle" of the motor are stock metric items. Available from better hardware stores, or at Tohatsu PN

for less than 2 bucks. You may also want new nuts.

yeah I am going to fab my own. if I could tell that the replacement part was a stainless steel drag link, vs that painted steel one, I would spend the $80 or so for an entire new one.

It looks like the one specified for my motor(Tohatsu Drag link Assembly 346-84905-1) may not all be stainless. Does anyone know where I can purchase one that is stainless steel?

Whatever the manufacturer has will be what you get.
looks like all they are producing are the crappy painted ones. I am going to have one fabricated out of stainless steel as it makes no since for me to replace a painted one (not even powder coated) that is simply going to rust again in the salt water. It is bizarre, the rest of the engine seems to be full of SST parts so making the drag link out of steel, that is exposed to the elements, makes absolutely no since to me.
