DP-SM Water nipple installation

Putting drives back together after painting/rebuilding. Putting pivot housing back in, how far does water nipple threads stick out? Are they supposed to extend past plastic nut? Forgot to take pic. Here is what I have after putting back together.

On mine I have a couple of threads showing through the nipple nut. Make sure that the square on the plastic nipple is located correctly on the Fwd side of the pivot housing and that the hose clip is not interfering. Oh yes do not over tighten the nut .

UPDATE: In case any one has this problem make sure o-ring is in back slot next to square. Mine was in the forward slot preventing it from going in all the way. Manual doesn't show where it goes well.
