Ok, I have a Volvo DP-SM (3868913) attached to a Volvo 5.7 GI-C (3869189). The boat is a 2003, and I don't think the bellows have ever been changed.

Last year I pulled the sterndrive and saw no sign of water, but the rubber is starting to get old and cracked and I want to replace it. Is it possible to remove the u-joing bellow and exhaust bellow without removing the pivot housing etc?

If I have the sterndrive pulled off, and turn the drive to port I can reach the clamps on both the bellows, would it be impossible to replace these with just the sterndrive? If so, what else do I need to take off, any further details would be greatly appreciated. I looked at the service manual and I am not quite sure what else I need to take off.

Thank you in advance.

Yes it is. Just remove the exhaust bellows. You will have to remove the big plastic nut and push the water hose fitting out to make some room, then remove the ujoint bellows an pull it out from the bottom. Then reverse the order to reassemble. It's a tight fit, but it will work. Just be sure you don't snag the ujoint bellows on anything and rip a hole in your new bellows.
