I have a 96 Regal with a DP-S drive. Can you tell me what the "Water Drain Plug" on the side of the lower unit is for?? I can't seem to find that info in the book. When do you remove it? Why? Thanks!

Not aware of any drain plugs on the side of the lower unit, do you have a picture?

Hopefully the attach picture worked. This plug is on the port side of the drive. Has nothing to do with the lube in the lower unit which is why i was trying to determine what it is. I tried removing it, but doesnt want to come out very easy, so thought i would try to figure out what it even is before i go any further. Thanks!

That isn't used for anything. It's just a holdover from when it was an OMC Cobra drive, and the outdrive had the raw water pump in the drive.
Just an FYI for future reference, that is not your lower unit. That screw is in the pivot housing, the lower unit is the lower half of the outdrive which is bolted to the upper gear housing, and the complete drive is then bolted to the pivot housing.

Ok, thank you very much, I really appreciate your help!
