Last question I promise.
What is the correct way of allinging the engine to the drive. The mounts on the engine are shot and need replacing. I wanted to check engine allingment after replacing the mounts

easiest drive in the world to align.

following the manual.

there are 3 places to measure between the PDS housing and the transom sheild. at 3-oclock, 9-oclock and 12-oclock positions, measure with feeler gauges.

as long as the dimensions are within a 0.060" range (1.5mm) you are good

Wow that sounds nice and straight forward makes a change on a boat.
Are these positions obvious when looking at the back end of the engine.
