Re: Downing Street Memo

It just tells us what we all knew, or should have known before. It wasn't like it was a big secret.

The people that supported entering the war don't care about it one way or another, and those of us that did not support us entering the war already knew about it. It's hardly a revelation.

So what's the point now of rehashing it?

Because there has never been solid proof before this memo. This memo will turn out to be a very big deal before it is all said and done.

You're joking, right?

The war long ago ceased being about the threat of WMD's, and became about liberating Iraq, and bringing democracy to the mid east.

The war will ultimately be judged on whether we can stabilize some form of democracy in Iraq that will bring stability to the country, and ideally the rest of the middle east will fall in line like dominoes.

If that happens, it will be a shining success--to the extent it falls short of that goal it will be less of a success.

And none of it will have anything to do whatever with that British memo.

BTW, the neo-cons published a treatise back in the late 90's, when Clinton was pres, available on the internet, that predicted the need for this action. If anyone is at all surprised they meant what they said back then, they have been dreaming or asleep.

I think the memo is just a "spin doctors" spin on the subject. Kind of pointless now. Regardless of who said what and when we are there.

There is an old saying "who cares who shot John! just stop the bleeding"

Amazing as it may seem, we liberals actually use our own brains to think things out, and don't require a script to follow, as conservatives seem to, to know what we think.

Occasionally, us liberals may disagree with each other from time to time as we each reason things out for ourselves.

Bob's got the official conservative line on this topic just right. Y'all can add your "dittos" to it if it makes you feel more comfortable.

I'm not talking about the war when I say the memo will be big.
