Down Solenoid

Ok I have a 1974 Mercruiser 165 hp. My drive went up and now it will not go down. I was wanting to know if anyone knows if I have to go to a boat shop to get down solenoid? Also how much can I count on spending. <br /> Thank You Jeff

What you need to do is troubleshoot the system and find out what is wrong with it. You don't have a down solenoid on that year pump. Only an up. Check the switch and wiring to see why you aren't getting power to the motor.

J wolf I had a problem like that with mine 1970 120-merc not sure if yours will be the same but mine was the selonoid it is basiclly a ford starter type I bought one at napa cheap and it has been working great for a couple of years now. Check your manuel and you will see were it is I did check mine against a good one with an om meter and I could tell it was bad right away hope this helps.
