Background- found this boat on craigslist for a good price. Went to look and test drive the boat at the owners. Boat ran great no issues with idle, acceleration or starting. Disconnected tachometer, few minor visual problems but nothing serious. The boat is an 1988 but I but the boat off the original owner who also owned a newer ski boat. Owner said the boat had last years gas in it but it ran great on his lake so I did not worry. Same day I bought the boat I took it to a local lake. Unloaded the boat and let it warm up a few minutes. The first 3 times I tried to but the boat in gear it stalled and needed to be restarted. The fourth time the boat ran like a champ for an hour or so. Four days later I tried to take the boat out with some friends and it could stall every time I tried to but it in gear, forward and reverse. In neutral when I would wot it would bog out sometimes and roar other times. Seemed like if I increased the gas slowly it was fine but if I "floor" it the motor bogs out. Motor is an 1988 omc 4.3 liter with the Rochester 2 barrel carb. I have replaced the plugs ( old ones looked fine so I'll hang on to them) Drain fuel filter ( no water or debris) Oil change with filter Checked the ESA unit on the side of the carb but not the module Accelerator pump seems to be jetting a stream to each barrel Checked the inline fuel filter into the carb. I replaced the tach with a new one the previous owner bought but did not install. The previous tach was unplugged with it set at 4 cylinder? Kind of confusing. Whatever the problem is it has gotten significantly worse from the great test drive to the third time out when the boat stalls when put into gear. Even in neutral out of the water with muffs on the boat bogs when giving it gas quickly. I'm thinking its a fuel issue but don't now where to go next. I don't think it's the points as it has been getting worse quickly. Any help would be appreciated
